A policeman attached to the Isiokolo (Otoro-Agbon) Divisional Police Headquarters in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State has been reportedly shot dead by unknown gunmen.
Mainstreamnews gathered the cop was hit by a stray bullet when the gunmen on a motorcycle shot sporadically at the Isiokolo police station
The raid led to the arrest of some suspects in connection with the attack.
The incident, our reporter learnt, occurred Thursday, causing apprehension among residents and uniform men.
Sources told our correspondent that the gunmen numbering two had arrived at the entrance of the station and shot sporadically at policemen mounting sentry at the time of the incident.
It was further gathered that two cops sustained injuries during the attack and were rushed to hospital where one was confirmed dead.
The second victim who was also critically injured was said to be responding to treatment as at the time of filing this report.
The attack was compelled a joint team of security operatives to launch a raid on Isiokolo, Kokori and other surrounding towns in the area.
The raid led to the arrest of some suspects in connection with the attack.
When contacted, spokesman of the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the incident, but clarified that it was not a raid on the station.
Edafe also confirmed the death of one of the victims, adding that the gunmen came with an Okada.
