Tribunal Verdict: I’ll defend your mandate, Joel-Onowakpo assures Delta South Senatorial District
The senator representing Delta South Senatorial District, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas has assured the people of his constituency that he would do everything within his God-given ability to defend the electoral mandate entrusted to him in the last general elections.
The senator made the assertion at the heels of theyyy tribunal verdict on the petition filed by his major opponent and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Evangelist Michael Diden (a.k.a. Ejele).
The National Assembly Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba, Delta State, on 6th September 2023 had ruled that rerun be conducted in Warri South Local Government Area.
“I am aware of the judgement.
Though we are yet to receive the certified true copy of the judgement, preliminary brief suggest sufficient grounds for appeal which will give us victory.
“As I consult the leadership of our party and my legal team, be rest assured that, we will appeal this judgement and we will do everything within our God given grace to defend our mandate.
“However, I wish to urge my teaming supporters and APC faithfuls in Delta South Senatorial District to remain calm and show brotherly love to one another
“Be rest assured that, by God’s grace, the mandate you gave to me at the polls will be defended and I will remain your Senator now and for the next four years”, he stated.
