Oko, Oshimili South — April 19, 2026
Hon. Kelvin Chukwudum Nwabueze, a serving Councillor, on Saturday formally declared his intention to contest the Oshimili South Constituency seat in the Delta State House of Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

Nwabueze made the declaration in his ward in Oko, Oshimili South LGA, before party leaders, supporters, and community stakeholders.

The bid received a major boost as the Traditional Council of Oko Kingdom announced its full endorsement of Nwabueze’s aspiration, describing him as “a worthy ambassador of Oko Kingdom with a proven record of grassroots service.”

Speaking at the event, Nwabueze said his decision to run is “a call to service and responsibility” driven by his people’s demand for effective and accessible representation.

“I am qualified, fit, and prepared to represent the good people of Oshimili South. My experience as a Councillor has equipped me with the knowledge of our people’s needs and the legislative temperament required to address them,” he said.

“This is not a personal ambition. It is a collective mission to deepen the dividends of democracy in our constituency.”

He pledged to prioritise youth empowerment, infrastructure, education, and transparent constituency engagement if elected. He urged APC faithful in Oshimili South to remain united ahead of the polls.

The Traditional Council said its endorsement was based on Nwabueze’s “character, accessibility, and commitment to community development” during his tenure as Councillor.

“He has not forgotten his roots, and we are confident he will carry Oshimili South’s voice with dignity at the State Assembly,” the Council stated.

The ceremony drew APC ward executives, youth leaders, women groups, and elders who pledged to mobilise support for his candidacy.
